Liliana Rivera Baiman for City Council Endorsed by Largest Columbus City Workers’ Union
Democratic City Council Candidate Liliana Rivera Baiman announced today that her campaign has received the endorsement of Ohio American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Power in Action, a joint political program of AFSCME Ohio Council 8 and AFSCME Retiree Chapter 1184. AFSCME Power in Action represents more than 7,000 state, city, municipal, hospital, university, and nonprofit union workers as well as retirees in the Columbus area, including AFSCME Local 1632 - the largest union representing City of Columbus employees.
“I’m proud of every endorsement, but this endorsement from AFSCME is particularly meaningful because it represents the confidence placed in our campaign by the dedicated public service professionals of our city,” said Baiman. “We will bring the voices of working families to City Council, including those who dedicate their careers to maintaining our city parks, utilities, finances, and so much more.”
Liliana Rivera Baiman is a labor organizer, working mother, and immigrant running for Columbus City Council on a progressive platform including one good job for all Columbus residents, real affordable housing, and robust, reliable, and affordable public transportation. Her campaign has been endorsed by a wide variety of organizations including Democratic Socialists of America,The Matriots, Working Families Party, Vote Mama, and Vote Pro Choice.
